VAT returns are the major reason you will want to keep on top of
your bookkeeping. There are many other benefits in keeping the
bookkeeping up-to-date.
A reliable list of outstanding sales
invoices can be used to chase customers regularly. And a monthly
list of outstanding supplier invoices will be helpful in working out
a payment order to keep everyone happy.
Accurate bookkeeping forms the basis
for good quality accounts. If it’s not accurate your accountant will
not be able to use the data and will have to start all over again.
Our Method of Operation
Our bookkeeping work is done on Sage
Line 50. We do this work in our office, and you send your data to us
both online and in the post, via next day guaranteed delivery. We
use the same method for returning paperwork, VAT returns and reports
to you.
We work on a monthly or quarterly
basis. Once the data has been entered we provide whatever reports
are required and a VAT return when it is due. We produce P11D’s if
required at the end of the tax year.
You might like to use Sage or another
software package for producing sales invoices and controlling stock
but want us to do the main bookkeeping. In this situation we set up
a separate Sage directory for the book-keeping, and you can carry on
with the invoicing and stock control. We can download some of your
data to our directory so that we don’t have to re-key your work.
If we think a particular transaction
could cause problems later we warn you as soon as we see it, so
there is time to sort things out. We prepare regular lists of
queries for you to answer so we can prepare the most accurate set of
VAT returns and accounts possible.
Perhaps you would like us to produce
all your sales invoices. We can email these to you to print out, or
print and mail them out ourselves. We check every single invoice to
ensure accuracy so you don’t have to. And we query anything unusual
rather than leaving it to chance.
We send you regular Sage backups if
you want to load the Sage data onto your computer when we’ve
finished. And you may want us to provide other reports.
At the end of your company’s financial
year, we produce draft financial accounts and agree them with you.
Then we send our Sage data and working sheets to your accountant and
liaise with them where necessary. Accountancy fees are vastly
reduced because we have done all the bookkeeping and sorted out all
the queries. So your accountant just has to work on the tax and file
the accounts at Companies House.
Lots of companies ask us to just
supervise the work of their bookkeeper, so we pop in either when the
VAT return is due, or just at year end, to ensure data input is
correct. This minimises accountancy bills and gives our clients
confidence in the input of their staff.
When a VAT or PAYE inspection comes up
you may ask us to advise on what paperwork needs to be marshalled
together and we can attend at the inspection if required.
How would this service help
you?
VAT and PAYE rules are getting ever
more complicated. There are very few bookkeepers who have been
properly trained to understand both PAYE and VAT rules. Many of them
struggle to understand the underlying accountancy rules. This can
unfortunately lead to errors on VAT which could be costly much
later, or in the worst case scenario, very high accountancy fees.
At a certain level of volume it is
vastly more efficient to let us do your bookkeeping. We have the
knowledge, experience and speed to enable the right information to
be produced quickly and in a cost-effective manner. You only pay for
the time we take to do your work.
We tailor the service to suit your
requirements. Our reports will enable you to manage cashflow better,
keep your accountancy costs down and save you all the hassle of
doing it yourself.
We are easily contactable by phone or
email, and no-one has to wait days or weeks to get in touch with us.
